ZTE released their latest phone and it looks really familiar

The company revealed the Axon 7 Mini at IFA, and it looks exactly like a smaller version of the Axon 7

One look at ZTE’s latest phone, and you might feel like you’re getting deja vu.

The Axon 7 mini, as the name suggests, is a smaller version of the Axon 7, ZTE’s flagship phone, which the company released in July.

Aside from the mini’s smaller 5.2-inch screen, the two models look identical. But ZTE says this small change could make a big difference to some consumers.

“Some people prefer smaller phones. Axon 7, the original device that we launched, is a five and a half inch display which means it’s a little bit larger, and some people said they want it to be able to fit in my hand nicer. Others say look it might be a bit uncomfortable in a pocket… we want to make sure that we can provide different form and form factors for users and 5.2 inches turns out to be perfect for some.”

Like the Axon 7, the Axon 7 mini is equipped with dual front-facing speakers that support hi-fi playback and recording. The speakers really are capable of some big sound!

Another interesting feature of the phone is the fingerprint sensor, which can be found on the back and lets you unlock the device as you would naturally hold it.

The Mini’s also armed with a USB-Type C connector and a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera.

Under the hood, the Axon Mini comes with 32 gigabytes of memory, and users can add as much as 128GB with a microSD card.

At around $299, the Axon 7 Mini is about $100 cheaper than its big brother and is meant to compete with other mid-tier phones.

The new handset will be available in Europe and China in late September and is expected to hit the U.S. market in October.

According to ZTE, the Axon 7 Mini won't immediately go on sale through a U.S. carrier, but it does support bands used by AT&T and T-Mobile.
