What happens when you pair a top Hollywood stunt driver with one of the world’s best drone pilots?
You get an amazing cat and mouse chase between the two. That’s what.
It all happened at the Zhuhai International Circuit in China on Thursday, when drone pilot Li Jae Hong put his flying skills up against rally and James Bond stunt driver Mark Higgins.
Higgins tried to shake-off but when you’ve got a car skidding around an industrialized zone, the drone is always going to be a bit more nimble. Higgins did have various pillars, roofs and trees he could use to his advantage, but the drone managed to find him.
Had the competition been a straight race, the drone wouldn’t have had much of a chance. It’s top speed is 49 miles per hour versus the 155mph of the Jaguar XJ.
Jaguar said it was all to help explore how drones could be used in movie chase sequences, and DJI markets this drone as perfect for filming. Whatever the reason, they had a lot of fun.
