Sony’s blockbuster E3 press conference featured plenty of games, showing us trailers for some predictable titles, like Street Fighter five, Star Wars and a brand new property from Guerrilla Game, but there were some were unexpected revelations. Here are the top 3 surprises from Sony’s E3 press conference.
Last Guardian Sony kicked things off with a bombshell. It unveiled one of the most anticipated, and repeatedly delayed games, The Last Guardian. This game has been in development for years. years Nobody expected it to actually come out, it was literally announced in 2009, started and started development almost 10 years ago. The Last Guardian’s dveeloper had done super huge games, Ico and Shadow of the Colossus This is his follow up. We have a release date too- it’s coming next year to the PlayStation 4 We saw some gameplay footage of a young boy dressed in what looks like a toga and a giant flying half bird half dog creatures they walk around and escape danger in n ancient city that’s falling apart.
Final Fantasy 7 reboot The second surprise- there will be a Final Fantasy 7 remake for the PS4, with updated graphics that look pretty good, although the trailer didn’t show much. People have been talking about rebooting Final Fantasy 7 for years. It came out in 1997 and since then consoles have gotten new power and graphics capability. People started asking about a reboot around 2003. People remember this game from their childhood At the time it was groundbreaking but now. Some peole may think its antiquated Still, they have this reverence for it because of nostalgia hopefully the remake will address concerns of the game being outdated. Square Enix didn’t reveal what we want to know, like a release date, but it’s coming.
The third surprise was a teaser for Shenmoo III, Sony used its massive, blockbuster press conference to show a Kickstarter ad for the game. Which is the third installment of Shenmoo series by renowned game developer Yu Suzuki When Suzuki was writing the first Shenmoo, the story spanned six games, made the first one and it did fairly well, the second one got released in Japan, but took a long time to get to America bc they didn’t think people would want it. He’s been fighting tooth and nail to get the third one made for the past 14 years , turning to kickstarter. thanks to the post press conference attention has passed its 2 million dollar goal, which may show publishers that there is demand for this game and they will fund it. It’s set to ship out in December 2017 and PC.
Morpheus This press conference was about Sony delivering on a ton of promises, showing games that have been in the making for so long, in some sort of development limbo that fans have been waiting years for. But one disappointment we didn’t get much news about Project Morpheus, the VR headset for the Playstation 4. Sony just said that Morpheus will be good for multiplayer, you’ll be able to play VR games with your friends and family. But we were hoping for more news, so it was a disappointment.
